Barry Zito Goes on ‘Good Day L.A.,’ TV Host Has No Idea Who He Is (video)

Barry Zito has been pitching in California for twelve years now and helped the San Francisco Giants win the World Series last season, so one would think that all Californians would know Barry Zito. Well apparently that is not that case. The former Cy Young-winning was on Good Day L.A. to promote “A Night For The Troops,” a concert with musician Kelley James which was to benefit Strikeouts For Troops, which was founded by Zito in 2005. However it wasn’t the duo’s special acoustic performance that was the highlight.

Good Day L.A. host Steve Edwards had worked on his baseball jargon and stats all day and was excited to ask the three-time All-Star some baseball questions. Then he asked his hard-hitting baseball questions to Kelley James, the musician. Meanwhile Zito sat there allowing Edwards to make a fool of himself.

Now if this was 2011 when Zito had a 5.87 ERA and only pitched 53 innings I could totally understand Edwards not knowing who Barry Zito was. However the man just helped the San Francisco Giants win the World Series only three months ago. C’mon Steve, would a simple thirty second Google image search of Barry Zito have killed you?

At the 3:05 mark starts the awkward interaction.
